Shoot for the Album
Or rather “shoot for the End Product”. The end product is why we as wedding photographers exists i.e. taking photographs of this special day and recording them for the couples memories. For wedding photography, the end product is usually a photo album but can also be a coffee table book, wall art etc.
The album is also the wedding photographers opportunity to increase their revenue and profitability so should be approached early on in the discussion with the clients. You might need to lead so this so ask the question “What will you want from the images?” Explain the products you provide and let them know what an average spend from other clients are. This will get the client to think about what end products they want, how much they are willing to spend and help decide what package you are offering is right for them.
Once you have agreed on the end product, you must be able to deliver on it, so plan your shoot so the images can tell a storey in your album. Make a list of must have shots that will be used in your album, if you can’t get them in the sequence of the day try to get them later. Also think about shots that you will want to use for promoting your self as a wedding wedding photographer in your profile, website and social media.
